2012 Belmont Stakes
2012 Belmont Stakes
With a Triple Crown on the line, this year’s Belmont Stakes has another layer of excitement. Not since 1978 has
a horse won all three legs of the Triple Crown, but this year, I’ll Have Another has a chance to make history on Saturday, June 9.
I’ll Have Another has been galloping well at Belmont Park since arriving, making a smooth transition from Pimlico Race Course – where he won the Preakness Stakes on May 19 – to the wide, sandy course at Belmont Park. Winning the third race won’t be easy, however; the race is known as the “Test of the Champion” for its grueling distance of 1 ½ miles. I’ll Have Another will also be facing some familiar foes in the Belmont Stakes. Bet on I’ll Have Another’s odds to win the Triple Crown at Bovada.
Union Rags, who had such a tremendous year as a juvenile but has
yet to live up to expectations during his 3-year-old campaign, will be gunning for top spot. The Dixie Union colt will have a new jockey for the Belmont Stakes: In place of Julien Leparoux, John Velazquez will get the call. Union Rags has posted two straight bullets at Fair Hill where he has been training since his disappointing 7th-place finish in the Kentucky Derby. Expectations are once again high for this Michael Matz trainee, but concerns about his stamina remain. Find Belmont Stakes betting lines on Union Rags at Bovada.
Dullahan, third in the Kentucky Derby, has looked sharp in his first official workout at Belmont Park. Trained by Dale Romans, Dullahan posted a bullet 4-furlong work timed in 45.97 on June 3 and looks fresh and ready to spoil I’ll Have Another’s Triple Crown party.
