Tom Freese LA Lakers NBA Season Preview
LA LAKERS NBA PREVIEW
The LA Lakers and the Miami Heat are the favorites to win the NBA Championship this season. We all know about the Miami Heat and their big three of Duane Wade, Lebron James and Chris Bosh. But the Lakers have now put together a very strong team this year that should be able to compete with any team out there.
The Lakers acquired former Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard as well as bringing in former Phoenix Sun Steve Nash to be their starting point guard. In my opinion, this gives the Lakers the best starting five in the NBA this season. Nash will start at point guard while Kobe Bryant will start at shooting guard. Metta World Peace (aka Ron Artest) will start at small forward, Pau Gasol will the the power forward and Dwight Howard will be the big man in the middle. Those are five very solid NBA players that will be very, very tough to beat this season.
The addition of Steve Nash will help Kobe Bryant find more open shots as Nash is a solid floor general and great assist man even as he gets a little up there in years (38.) Dwight Howard has averaged 2.2 blocks per game, 18 points per game and 13 rebounds per game in his career. Howard has three defensive Player of the Year awards and will add to the Laker defense. The Lakers also signed Antwan Jamison who could compete for the starting job with Metta World Peace. Regardless, the Lakers have the best team in the league this season and will score plenty of points on the offensive end with Nash pushing it up and down the court and they should be solid on the defensive end as well. The addition of these three players help make the Lakers my pick to win it all this season. If the Lakers can find somebody to hit from behind the arc, don’t be surprised if this team comes close to setting some new records this year.
