All is rather quiet on the Stanley Cup Playoffs front as of this moment, the NBA numbers for this weekend have not been moving much, thus, we will focus our attention on baseball today. Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll.
MLB – (903) ST. LOUIS at (904) WASHINGTON 7:05 E FSMW, MASN2
Frustration has to be building for Washington having lost eight straight to St. Louis. Baseball bettors probably agree, but they are instead thinking about the total with the pitching matchup of Michael Wacha (2-0, 1.89 ERA) and Gio Gonzalez (2-1, 3.50) and have lowered the sportsbooks number from 7 to 6.5. Here are a couple reasons why this could be correct; the Cardinals are 23-9 UNDER with a rested bullpen that pitched one inning or less in last game and Washington is 8-0 UNDER in home games after getting shutout the last three seasons. SWM Take – Play Under
MLB – (905) MILWAUKEE at (906) PITTSBURGH 7:05 E FSWI, ROOT-P
Are the Brewers starting to slow down after their hot start? Those betting baseball think so, with Milwaukee having lost three of four and scoring more than four runs once in their past seven outings. The Brew Crew started the day at -115 and has been switched to +107 money line underdogs. The Crew’s Kyle Lohse (2-1, 3.05) has a long successful history over the Pirates at 10-2, but those were against inferior Pittsburgh squads, not like this bunch. Lohse is also 29-11 vs. a NL team with a team batting average of .255 or worse the last two seasons. (Team’s Record) SWM Take – Lean Milwaukee
MLB – (925) MINNESOTA at (926) KANSAS CITY 10:05 E FSNO, FSKC
Go ahead, name the top scoring team in baseball? Time is up it is the Minnesota Twins! Minnesota was already supposed to be buried in the AL Central, but thanks to an offense which is averaging 5.7 runs a contest, the Twinkies are 8-7 (+3.3 units) and the top Over play in baseball at 12-3. Kansas City was swept in the land of still chilly 10,000 lakes last weekend and will want payback, yet they have crumbled from -155 to under -130. Twins starter Ricky Nolasco (1-1, 5.50) is 40-25 as a road underdog of +100 to +150 in his career. (Team’s Record) SWM Take – Minnesota wins
MLB – (929) SEATTLE at (930) MIAMI 10:05 E ROOT-NW, FSFL
Seattle lost their four-game series at Texas and continues the road trip heading over to Miami. On the original line, the Mariners were -115, but after some consternation, they have been pushed to +110. Among the areas of concern is the M’s starter Chris Young, who while impressive with six shutout innings in his first start of the year, this will be just his second start in 19 months. The Marlins are no bargain; having lost eight nine and they are 21-43 in April the past three seasons. SWM Take – Lean Miami
