Sports Watch Monitor Line Moves and Today’s Top Trends

Once again, rather quiet to this points on the NBA Playoff trail, but we did come up with one totals line move to contemplate. In the NHL, every favorite has been lowered; we will focus our attention on the matchup that is on basic cable. In baseball, we have two hot division rivalries in which the numbers are on the move. Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll.

NBA – (723) BROOKLYN at (724) TORONTO  7:35 E  NBA-TV

With a halftime score of 50-46, the Game 1 total was tracking right on the oddsmakers total, however, both Brooklyn and Toronto shot the ball poorly in the third quarter and the final outcome was an UNDER. Sportsbooks made the adjustment to 189 and few have taken to that figure and the adjusted number to 190.5, with over 80 percent backing from basketball bettors. One school of thought is the Raptors are 7-0 OVER at home after a couple of Under’s, nonetheless, Toronto tends to be defensive-minded playing into revenge with a 22-11 UNDER mark when playing on the home court. SWM TakeLean Over

MLB – (923) N.Y. YANKEES at (924) BOSTON  8:10 E  MLBN

Two events surround the usual madness of this rivalry with Jacob Ellsbury returning to Bean-Town wearing a Yankees uniform and the Red Sox get their first look at pitching phenom Masahiro Tanaka (2-0, 2.05 ERA, 0.77 WHIP). Ellsbury is hitting .338 for his new club, while Tanaka has 28 strikeouts in three starts, the most ever by a Pinstripes hurler to start his career. Though Jon Lester (2-2, 2.17, 1.03) has been very effective, the Boston offense has not, averaging only 3.2 runs per outing versus right-hand starters, leading to 4-9 record. The Red Sox have drifted from -130 money line favorites to -115. Just keep in mind Lester has been a stopper, with a 14-3 mark if the BoSox are off a defeat. (Boston’s record) SWM TakeBoston wins

MLB – (925) TEXAS at (926) OAKLAND  10:05 E  FSSW, CSN-C

After being down 3-1, Texas later tied the game at three and added an 8th inning run for the clincher to move within 1 ½ games of first place Oakland. The Rangers have an injury list reads like a mortgage contract, yet they have managed to win five of six. Nick Martinez (0-0, 4.50) was recalled from the minors to take Tanner Scheppers slot in the rotation and will be facing Tom Milone (0-1, 4.09, 1.54), who is 27-14 pitching under the lights (A’s record). Oakland has been pushed from -145 to -160 and while that makes sense, Milone is 1-4 against Texas with an ERA over 5 and the Rangers are a superb 8-0 against clubs with a win percentage of 62% or higher since last season.SWM Take – Slight lean with Texas

NHL – (13) N.Y. RANGERS at (14) PHILADELPHIA  7:05 E  CNBC, TSN2

Tonight we find out what the takeaway was for Philadelphia ending an eight-game losing streak at the Rangers, to even the series and being at home for Game 3. The Flyers were actually down 2-0 Sunday, but rallied with four unanswered goals and will have to maintain the same kind of pressure to keep New York uneasy. Hockey bettors are supporting the underdog Rangers, lowering them from +110 to -103. In the Blueshirts favor is a 9-0 record on the road off a home loss. SWM Take – New York wins
