A lighter slate on the board with more afternoon action today. St. Louis has sailed south by 30 cents on the money line but they are still a chalky favorite, thus we talk about the line moves in other MLB three contests. Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll. (5-2 L2D)
MLB – (903) MILWAUKEE at (904) ARIZONA 3:40 E FSWI, FSAZ
The Brew Crew was released as a -130 road favorite and at last look was a slight underdog in their series finale with Arizona. Two reasons stick out, first, Ryan Braun is not expected to be in the lineup and secondly is the very effective pitching of D-Backs rookie Chase Anderson (5-1, 3.21 ERA). Baseball bettors are choosing to ignore Yovani Gallardo (4-4, 3.51) is 7-0 with a 1.80 ERA against the Snakes (includes postseason). We’ll side with the fact Milwaukee is 19-10 off a loss and wins the series. SWM Take – Milwaukee wins
MLB – (907) N.Y. METS at (908) MIAMI 7:10 E MLB-TV
Zack Wheeler (2-7, 4.38) is coming off a couple of rough outings and not having your confidence is the last thing any pitcher needs to have going against Giancarlo Stanton, who leads the NL with 20 homers and 57 RBIs. He’ll oppose another top pitching prospect in Andrew Heaney, who makes his major league debut, after he went 3-0 with a 2.74 ERA in four starts with Triple-A New Orleans this season, which was after a Double-A promotion. The betting public is calling for more of a pitcher’s duel and has dumped the total from 8 to 7. This might not be an easy call since we find the Marlins are 20-7 OVER when the total is seven or less and the Mets are 17-7 OVER as underdogs with Wheeler on the hill.SWM Take – Play Over
MLB – (921) BOSTON at (922) OAKLAND 10:05 E NESN, CSN-CA
Boston has only tallied nine runs in the past five contests yet have won three times. How? By only allowing seven runs in the same time span. With the Red Sox 9-0 UNDER after allowing three runs or less in four straight games this season, those betting baseball have sent the total from 7.5 to 7 with Jake Peavy (1-4, 4.53) facing Scott Kazmir (8-2, 2.05). There is more to consider when digging deeper, like Peavy having 10-2 OVER mark on the road when the total is 7.5 or less since last season. Also, the A’s are 16-6 OVER after three or more consecutive home games. This choice will come courtesy of the Magic 8 ball. SWM Take – Lean Over
