I am back after a brief sabbatical and ready to rock. The free plays I’ve been giving out have been nicely profitable and today we have four MLB line moves to look into. Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll. (88-67 L38D)

Atlanta has been sizzling while Pittsburgh has been fizzling and baseball bettors like the way the Braves offense has FINALLY come to life. Atlanta has 10 homers and 33 runs during their five-game winning streak and to some extent many are figuring this continues against Gerrit Cole (7-4, 3.78 ERA) and pushed the total from 7 to 7.5. The Braves will send out Alex Wood (9-9, 3.07), whose ERA is close to two runs lower as a starter compared to a reliever. A smoldering Justin Upton and the Braves are 14-4 OVER in road games after three or more consecutive Over’s since last season. SWM Take – Lean Over

Seriously, is anyone even remotely surprised the total in this contest has gone up from 8 to 8.5 with Jake Peavy (2-12, 4.75) taking on Edwin Jackson (6-13, 5.74)? Peavy won his first start the last time out in 19 starts, while Jackson owns baseball’s highest ERA among qualifying starters. The Cubs right-hander is 12-3 OVER vs. teams averaging 2.75 or less extra base hits per game this season while the Giants righty is 59-33 OVER if his team is off a road loss. SWM Take – Play Over

MLB – (915) L.A.A. ANGELS at (916) BOSTON  7:10 E  ESPN2

In spite of the overall brilliance of Garrett Richards (13-4, 2.53), those wagering on hardball are going against him and the front-running Angels in Bean Town. Los Angeles was released as -145 road favorites and they have dipped to -130. Clay Buchholz (5-7, 5.79) is not why the Red Sox have gained ground on the money line. Hard not to like Richards and the Halos who are 14-2 playing against a team with a losing record since last year. SWM Take – Los Angeles wins

MLB – (929) KANSAS CITY at (930) COLORADO  8:40 E  FSKC, ROOT-RM

OK, OK, we know Colorado and Jorge De La Rosa (12-8, 4.32 ERA) are 21-4 at Coors Field the past two years. Yet, Kansas City is 22-5 in their last 27 games, has won 15 of 19 versus the NL and is 11-2 on the road. Yes, we realize Danny Duffy (8-10, 2.60) has actually pitched worse this month than he has all season (3.71 ERA), but thanks to finally receiving some run support, he’s 3-0 in August. The Royals have dipped from -130 to under -110, nonetheless, it’s the Rockies who are 3-18 vs. AL teams allowing 4.2 or less runs a game since 2012.SWM Take – Kansas City wins
