We have the NFL, college football and we add in NHL line moves today along with quality trends to ponder. Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll. (169-129 L58D)
NFL – (101) INDIANAPOLIS at (102) HOUSTON 8:25 ET CBS
The Indianapolis offense has been hot all season with Andrew Luck at the controls, tied for first in points scored at 31.2 PPG. Though Houston’s defense is ranked fourth in points allowed (17.4 PG), the total has been shoved from 45 to 46. If you buy into the oddmakers having the Colts as three-point favorites, making an approximate final score of 24.5 to 21.5, Indy is 10-0 OVER when both teams score 20 or more points since last season. At the other end of the spectrum I find the Houston 6-0 UNDER after scoring seven points or less in the first half of two straight games since 2012. Update – After briefly flirting with 47 this morning, the total has settled in at 46.5 and 61 percent are pleased with the OVER. SWM Take – Lean Under
CFB – (103) BYU at (104) CENTRAL FLORIDA 7:30 ET ESPN
BYU losing QB Taysom Hill is a devastating loss because their offense is centered around his diverse talents. When football bettor’s take Hill out of the picture and blend that with Central Florida ranked 98th in scoring (23 PPG) and a dismal 122nd in total offense (281 YPG), it makes it pretty easy to lower the total from 46 to 44.5. With BYU basically a 2.5-point underdog, the Cougars are 16-4 UNDER when the line is +3 to -3.SWM Take – Lean Under
NHL – (55) NEW JERSEY at (56) PHILADELPHIA 7:05 ET MSG+, CSN-P
With the season just in its second day, this Eastern Conference matchup just looks to be a case of puck players thinking sportsbooks are giving too much credit for Philadelphia being on home ice and the difference between the teams in their opinion is not that great, leading to the Flyers headed south by 20 cents to -120. The road team has won four in a row in this series. SWM Take – Philadelphia wins
NHL – (69) COLORADO at (70) MINNESOTA 9:05 ET NBCSN
While true revenge cannot be achieved, Colorado can start thinking about a season long of payback against Minnesota. After winning the first two games of their first round series over the Wild, the Avalanche lost four of the next five, including Game 7 in OT on home ice. No doubt this is being taken into consideration for the Avs being lowered from +120 to +105. Colorado was 4-1 during the regular season last year. SWM Take – Colorado wins
