Taking the hill for the Diamondbacks will be Zack Greinke and he has gone 13-9 with a 3.08 ERA in 29 starts on the year, including 7-6 with a 3.76 ERA in 14 starts on the road. In his career, he has gone 78-72 with a 3.72 ERA in 221 games (200 starts) on the road and 35-15 with a 2.97 ERA in 76 games (73 starts) during Sept/ Oct. Greinke has gone 11-5 with a 3.75 ERA in 28 games (27 starts) against the Rockies, including 4-1 with a 4.20 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) here at Coors.

The Rockies will trot out Antonio Senzatela and he has gone 4-5 with a 4.92 ERA in 19 games (nine starts) on the year, including 3-1 with a 5.04 ERA in eight games (four starts) here at home. Senzatela has gone 2-4 with a 4.47 ERA in his nine starts. In his career, he has gone 11-4 with a 5.12 ERA in 27 games (15 starts) here at Coors, while against the Diamondbacks he has gone 0-3 with an 8.27 ERA in six games (two starts).

A Look At The Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks really took it on the chin in game one of this series as they fell to the Rockies by a score of 13-2. They have been struggling down the stretch as they have now lost eight of their last 1o games to fall to 3.5 games out of first in the National League West. This is a team that led the division for much of the year, but they seem to be running out of gas and if they were to get swept in this series, then their chances of a playoff spot will be all but gone. The Diamondbacks have gone 39-33 on the road and they have averaged 4.15 rpg and have allowed 3.75 rpg in those games.

The Diamondbacks were lit up for 13 runs in game one and taking the loss was Zack Godley, who allowed five ERs on seven hits in just four innings of work. He is now 14-9 with a 4.67 RA on the year. Matt Andriese had a bad outing out of the pen as he allowed seven ERs on eight hits and two walks in just 1.1 innings of work. Eduardo Escobar and Paul Goldschmidt drove in their two runs in the game. The D-backs have a shot at taking this one as they have their ace on the mound, but still, this seems like a team in trouble.

A Look At The Rockies

The Colorado Rockies have been a surprise team this year as no one really saw them winning the National League West. They haven’t won it yet, but they are in the catbird seat. They currently lead the Dodgers by a game and a half and the D-Backs by 3.5 games. The Rockies come in having won seven of their last nine games and they have averaged a solid 6.22 rpg over that stretch. They haven’t been the powerhouse of an offense that they have been in the past, but they are getting that offense going at the right time. Colorado has gone 39-32 here at home and they have averaged 5.20 rpg and have allowed 5.21 rpg in those games.

The offense had fun in game one as they pounded out 17 hits and drew four walks while striking out just six times. Leading their attack was David Dahl, who had two hits and four RBIs, while Trevor Story had a hit and three RBIs and  DJ LeMahieu had three hits and two RBIs. German Marquez has not pitched well at home this year, but he had a solid outing as he allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out 11 in 7.0 innings of work. He is now 12-9 with a 3.94 ERA on the year.
