Arizona Diamondbacks vs Colorado Rockies MLB Odds, Betting Preview 9/12/18

An important matchup within the National League West will take place this evening as the Arizona Diamondbacks rumble with the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. This is game three of a four-game series and has a start time of 8:40 pm ET. Colorado took game one by a score of 13-2 and the D-Backs bounced back with a 6-3 win in game two.

Pitching Matchup

Toeing the rubber for the Diamondbacks will be Patrick Corbin and he has gone 11-5 with a 3.01 in 29 starts on the year, including 4-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 14 starts on the road. In his career, he has gone 26-27 with a 4.38 ERA in 84 games (75 starts) on the road and 8-10 with a 4.51 ERA in 33 games (25 starts) during Sept/ Oct. Corbin is 8-3 with a 4.66 ERA in 19 games (18 starts) against the Rockies, including 3-2 with a 6.84 ERA in 10 games (nine starts) here at Coors.

Getting the nod for the Rockies will be Jon Gray and he has gone 11-7 with a 4.69 ERA in 27 starts on the year, including 6-3 with a 4.56 ERA in 13 starts here at home. A Look At The Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fighting. They lost game one of this series by a score of 13-2 to fall to 3.5 games out of first in the NL West. Well, they were able to bounce back with a solid 6-3 win on Tuesday and that now has them at 2.5 games out. They are hoping to grab another win and move even closer and we note that the D-Backs are 14-3 in Corbin’s last 17 starts against the Rockies. Still, the Rockies have been playing well at home of late, and the D-backs are still just 3-8 in their last 11 games overall. This should be an interesting game.

The D-Backs took game two by a score of 6-3 and leading their attack in the game was Ketel Marte, who had two hits and four RBIs, while AJ Pollock had three hits and scored twice. David Peralta had their lone homer in the game and it was his 27th of the year. Zack Greinke picked up the win after allowed three ERs on six hits and no walks while striking out five in 6.2 innings of work. He is now 14-9 with a 3.11 ERA on the year. Arizona has gone 40-33 on the road and they have averaged 4.18 rpg and have allowed 3.74 rpg in those games.    

A Look At The Rockies

The Rockies are still leading the National League West, but by just 1.5 games over the Dodgers and 2.5 games over the Diamondbacks. This race will go down to the last weekend of the season. It could be even tighter after this game, but we do note that the Rockies are 8-2 in their last 10 games following a loss. This is a team that can bounce back, but we also note that Colorado hasn’t done well against Patrick Corbin in the past. He has their number (See Trends Below). The Rockies are 7-3 in their last 10 games and have averaged 5.90 rpg and have allowed 4.10 rpg in those games.

In their loss on Tuesday night, it was Antonio Senzatela who took the loss and is now 4-6 with a 5.01 ERA on the year. He allowed four ERs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four in the game. The offense had nine hits and drew two walks, but scored just the three runs. Nolan Arenado and David Dahl each had two hits and an RBI while driving in the 3rd run was Trevor Story. The Rockies have gone 39-33 here at home for the year and they have averaged 5.17 rpg and have allowed 5.22 rpg in those games.
