Game Analysis
The Colorado Rockies enter this game off a tough home series against the Cardinals, in which they lost two of the three games played. They had been hot coming in as they won 10 of their previous 12 games, but the Cards were also hot and they showed it in that series. The Rockies fell in game three of that series by a score of 12-3 and it was over very early as the Cards scored six runs in the first inning off Tyler Anderson and they never looked back. Anderson is now 6-7 with a 4.79 ERA on the year and all six runs were scored with two outs. Despite the rough series, the Rockies are still just one game out of first in the National League West and just one game out of a wildcard slot. They have a shot to get back on track here as the Halos have been struggling and the Rockies have gone a solid 37-29 on the road. They really hoper to get their pitching back on track as they did allow just 3.14 rpg in their seven games prior to the St Louis series. The Rockies have a 4.17 ERA on the road, which is 15th in the league.
The Los Angeles Angels had started out the season well and even spent time in the catbird seat of the American League West, but overall it has not been a good year. The Halos will enter this game at five games under .500 and 17.5 games out of first in their division. It has been a bit worse for them of late as they were just swept at home by the Astros and have now lost their last six games in a row, This series is all about playing spoiler as they do have a chance of hurting the Rockies playoff chance. They have been vert averaged at home this year as they have gone 33-33 here at Angel Stadium so far, but they are 16-5 in their last 21 games against the Rockies. Still, Odrisamer Despaigne has struggled for the Angels and the Rockies have played very well on the road.
The Angels have struggled of late and Despaigne has not looked good, plus the Rockies have been solid on the road, but we also note that LA is 16-5 their last 21 against Colorado and Gray has struggled for the Rockies this year. Should be an interesting game.
