Friday NCAA Tournament action and we will see the Michigan Wolverines take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. CBS will carry this game, which has a start time of 9:40 pm EST.

Current betting odds for this game have the have the Irish listed as 3 point favorites, while the total has been set at 144.5.

The Michigan Wolverines made it to the main draw with a hard fought 67-62 win over Tulsa in a play in game that many felt like they didn’t belong in. Despite the win, Michigan is still 4-5 SU & ATS in their last 9 games, plus they are just 5-10 SU and 6-9 ATS vs Tournament teams (Including Tulsa) this year, but let’s also note that John Beilein is 17-5-2 ATS as a head coach overall in the Big Dance. Michigan has won the last three games played between these teams, but the teams last met in 2006. The Wolverines have just 6 players that average more than 3.9 ppg and are led by Zak Irvin, who averages 11.9 ppg on the year, while 2nd is Derrick Walton at 11.7 ppg and he leads the team in rebounding at 5.5 rpg. Rounding out the double digit scorers for the Wolverines is Duncan Robinson at 11.2 ppg. Michigan checks in ranked 151st in the nation in scoring, but they are a good shooting team as they rank 58th in shooting overall, 38th from long range and 37th from the charity stripe. On defense they come in ranked 63rd in points allowed, giving up just 67.3 ppg, but teams shoot well vs them as they rank 241st defensive FG% overall and 156th in 3-point defense. Michigan is 312th in the nation in rebounding, while committing just 9.4 turnovers per game (5th) and forcing 11.3 turnovers per game (293rd).
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a solid year again as they are 21-11 overall, but they went just 2-3 down the stretch of the regular season and after fighting back from a 16 point deficit to beat Duke in the quarters of the ACC Tournament, they then played their worst game of the year in a 31 point point blowout loss to North Carolina the next day. The Irish do know how to bounce back from a loss as they are 5-1-1 ATS their last 7 off a loss and they are 7-2 ATS their last nine vs the Big 10, but we also note that Notre Dame is just 3-10 ATS in their last 13 NCAA Tournament games and they went just 4-9 ATS vs non-conference teams, plus 4-7 ATS vs tournament teams this year.Just five players average more than 5.7 ppg for the Irish, but all five do average in double figures. Notre Dame is led by Demetrius Jackson, who averages 15.5 ppg, while Zach Auguste is 2nd at 14.4 ppg and he leads the team in rebounding at 10.8 rpg. Steve Vasturia (11.8 ppg), Bonzie Colson (11.5 ppg) and V.J. Beachem (11.3 ppg) round out the double digit scorers on the team. Notre Dame has been a decent offensive team as they come in ranked 119th in the nation in scoring at 76.6 ppg, while also ranking 34th in shooting overall, 72nd from long range and 44th at the charity stripe. On defense they check in at 144th in the nation in points allowed, giving up 70.6 ppg, while ranking 136th in defensive FG% overall and 323rd in three point defense. The Irish are 157th in the nation in rebounding, while committing just 9.7 turnovers per game (9th) and forcing 9.7 turnovers per game (342nd).
