Sports Betting Line Moves and Today’s Top Trends
By Doug Upstone
On Tuesday, here is a look at all the biggest line moves in sports for today. As we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll.
NBA – (505) CHICAGO at (506) PHOENIX 9:05 E CSN-C, FSAZ
The Phoenix Suns were supposed to be the worst team in the Western Conference and instead they look very much like a playoff team despite being without one of the key backcourt players. The Suns have won five in a row and seven of eight (7-1 ATS), even without guard Eric Bledsoe. Instead, Goran Dragic has been the catalyst and is one of just three plays in the NBA to average at least 19 points, have five assists while shooting at least 48 percent. (Kevin Durant and LeBron James the others) Chicago on the other hand has dropped four of six (1-4-1 ATS) and has shot over 43 percent just once in this stretch and they have gone from +6.5 to +8. Home favorites at this price with a total in the 191-points range are 14-5 ATS. SWM Take – Phoenix covers
NBA – (507) CHARLOTTE at (508) GOLDEN STATE 10:35 E SS, CNS-BAY
Golden State has been playing better basketball and it can be attributed to winning three of four by playing tougher defense. From Jan. 8-24, the Warriors allowed an average of 108.4 PPG, but since then they have been stingy in surrendering just 89.5 PPG. Charlotte prefers to play a slower-style game, which is among the reasons they are 27th in scoring offense at 94.4 PPG and in turn, the total has fallen from 202 to 199.5. Though seven of last eight meetings have gone OVER in the Bay Area, the Warriors are 9-0 UNDER revenging a straight up loss as a favorite this season. SWM Take – Lean Under
CBB – (511) RUTGERS at (512) MEMPHIS 7:00 E CBSSN
Memphis as per usual has been a hard team to get a read on. The Tigers have moments of brilliance like their victory at Louisville, but they have also been blown out by Oklahoma State, Cincinnati and at SMU this past weekend. With an exceptional matchup with Gonzaga on Saturday, more than one basketball bettor is wondering about the Tigers focus against Rutgers this evening and lowered Memphis from -15.5 to -14. The Scarlet Knights just humbled Houston 93-70 last Saturday but are 12-25 ATS after a conference win by 10 or more points. SWM Take – Lean Memphis
NHL – (53) COLORADO at (54) N.Y. RANGERS 7:05 E ALT, MSG
Evidently somebody knows something in this NHL encounter. The Rangers opened at -140 on the money line and have been jettisoned to -170. Sure, New York is on home ice and has been victorious in winning nine of 12, but Colorado has been even hotter with a 9-2 mark since Jan. 11. Also consider the Blueshirts are 0-4 when seeking four wins in a row, while the Avalanche are 5-0 having won three games in a row this season. Though these teams have met infrequently of late, Colorado is 9-3 SU in the Garden since 1996. SWM Take – Colorado wins
