Sports Betting Line Moves and Top Trends for Oct. 3

We have a good variety of sports to choose from on Thursday and we have them all covered. Studying line moves can become a very profitable venture if you know what to look for.

NFL – (301) BUFFALO at (302) CLEVELAND 8:25 ET  NFLN

This is a rare sight. Cleveland is a rising favorite, now up to -4.5 from Sunday’s -3 release by oddsmakers. The combination of the Browns No. 3 ranked defense, coupled with QB Brian Hoyer working his magic has football bettors backing Cleveland. The Bills are 1-9 ATS in road affairs after playing a game at home the last three years. UpdateThe number has settled back to 4, with just over 55% backing the Browns. SWM Take – Cleveland covers

CFB – (307) UCLA at (308) UTAH 10:00 ET  FS1

Historically, Utah is tough out at Rice-Eccles Stadium (50-13 SU and 6-2 ATS as an underdog L11Y), yet those betting football are backing the better team and lifted UCLA two points to -6. The most significant difference is the overall team speed of the Bruins, which will be obvious from the start. The Utes however are 11-2 ATS at home off an upset. UpdateUCLA has continued to grow in popularity, now a touchdown choice, with over 80 percent of bets placed on them. The total has gone up a few points in the past two days and resides at 63.5 with 85 percent betting that way. SWM TakeLeans with UCLA and Under

MLB – (905) PITTSBURGH  at (906) ST. LOUIS  5:05 ET  TBS

With A.J. Burnett (10-11, 3.30 ERA) and Adam Wainwright (19-9, 2.94) both in good form recently, it was a bit surprising the total crept from 6.5 to 7 of this NLDS opener. Burnett has a 2.08 ERA in his last three outings and is 3-1 with a 3.67 ERA this season against the Cardinals. Wainwright has an ERA of 2.99 in three 2013 starts against the Pirates win one victory. One consideration to ponder is Burnett is 12-3 OVER in road games against a team with a winning record the last three seasons.SWM TakePlay Over

NHL – (7) NASHVILLE at (8) ST. LOUIS  8:35 ET  FSTN, FSMW

It is the opener for the Central Division foes. St. Louis owns a record they would like to put behind, having won the most games in the NHL (1,717, includes postseason) without winning a Stanley Cup. The Blues have put back to back strong regular seasons together, but have met their demise in the first round of the playoffs two years in a row. They will be out to change their luck and are rising favorites over Nashville, pushed from -185 to -210 on the money line. Just keep in mind the Blues are 4-7 hosting Nashville since Feb. of 2009.
