Sports Watch Monitor Line Moves and Today’s Top Trends

Another wagering week commences and we have four line moves to follow more closely. Besides these, the Chicago Blackhawks have slipped to -160 trying to get back in the series with St. Louis and in baseball the Tigers are blowing up as favorites, while the Angels and Nationals total has sunk to 7.5. Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll.

MLB – (951) CINCINNATI at (952) PITTSBURGH  7:05 E  ESPN

The Pirates have lost eight of 10, yet baseball bettors are giving them the benefit the doubt and pushed them from -135 to -147 on the money line. This is a slightly puzzling move considering Cincinnati has been playing better in winning five of seven and starter Mike Leake (2-1, 2.95 ERA, 0.890 WHIP) has been consistently better than Francisco Liriano (0-3. 3.96, 1.24). Pittsburgh is 45-22 after scoring two or fewer runs which is cause for hope if you are a Bucs fan. SWM TakeCincinnati wins

MLB – (957) ARIZONA at (958) CHIC. CUBS  8:05 E  FSAZ, CSN-C+ (side and total)

The Chicago Cubs are the only team in baseball which has yet to win a series, but they should have a chance with Arizona in town for four games. The Diamondbacks are 5-16 (-11.6 units) and are playing much closer to the Cubs than anyone in their division. Bettors are not sold on Chicago tonight and have dumped them from -140 to -126, in part because Travis Wood (0-2, 3.00, 1.38) has found no answers when facing Arizona with a 1-4 record and 6.33 ERA. His mound counterpart is Bronson Arroyo (1-1, 9.75, 1.97) who was crushed by the Mets in his last outing (nine runs 3 1/3 innings). The Cubs are 9-19 at home with a money line of -100 to -150 since last season. With a mediocre pitching matchup and the wind expected to be blowing out to right and right-center, the total jumped from 7.5 to 8.5. SWM TakeLean Chicago and Over

MLB – (963) PHILADELPHIA at (964) L.A. DODGERS  10:10 E  CSN-P, SNLA

Cliff Lee (2-2, 4.00, 1.55) has not been Cliff Lee thus far in 2014, with a higher their usual ERA and allowing opposing hitters to bat .342 against him. Even in last week’s complete game 1-0 loss to Atlanta, he was touched for 11 hits, but did have 13 punch-outs, suggesting he’s close. Those betting baseball think Philadelphia could make this interesting and lowered the Phillies from +115 to +101, as they will be facing the softer tosses of Paul Maholm (0-1, 4.97, 1.49). The Dodgers are 63-30 vs. NL teams scoring 4.3 or less runs a game on the season. SWM Take – Lean with L.A.

NHL – (3) COLORADO at (4) MINNESOTA  7:05 E  TSN, NHLN (side and total)

Colorado was too fast for Minnesota in building a 2-0 in the series and if the Wild has any chance of making competitive, it has to start here. Besides the obvious difference in speed, Ilya Bryzgalov has not been solid in goal and was pulled in Game 2 and he has long history of postseason failures, which has to concern Minnesota faithful. Pucks players have sent the Wild from -135 to around -120 against the Avs, who have won five of eight in this series on the road the past three years. To Minnesota’s credit, they are 16-6 revenging a road loss. The total has also fallen from 5.5 to 5 and the Wild is 8-1 UNDER on home ice after an away setback.SWM Take – Lean Minnesota and Under
